I could never find a watch that suited my personal style. Then I saw a blogger friend of mine had a new blog post featuring her new ‘Jord’ watch, and I was HOOKED. The watch is made of wood (yes, wood!) and pre-treated with tung oils. I loved how big the actual watch face was so I immediately jumped straight on the Jord website (http://www.woodwatches.com/#katieomakeup) and showed these new watches I had discovered to my partner (who is a total watch freak) and he agreed how stunning and and unique they were. There was literally a watch for everyone!
A few weeks later I was lucky enough to contacted by a Jord to partner up and do a giveaway with them (Dreams do come true!). I was lucky enough to be sent the watch of my choice which was the ‘Frankie’ Ebony and Gold watch. Such a cool watch! Everyone who follows me already know I am obsessed with black and gold and it was no question for me that, that was my perfect watch! All watches can be worn as a women’s watch or a men’s watch.
You can see the link to my exact watch here: http://www.woodwatches.com/series/frankie/ebony-and-gold/#katieomakeup
I was a little worried before it came that the watch face would be smaller than it looked in pictures but when it was arrived it was PERFECT!
I was actually stunned when the package arrived at my door. I opened quite a large box with the words ‘Jord’ on the front and inside was a seriously stunning large wooden box with a magnetic lid. When I opened it I was so excited when I saw the Frankie watch – it was exactly as it looked on the website! The box also contained additional wooden links for the watch and a one-year warranty card. It would honestly be the perfect gift for a loved one. It’s so luxurious!
I was surprised how light the watch was. I imagined being wood it may be a bit heavy but not at all, infact lighter than any watch I have ever owned. The size was perfect, the details were perfect.
I cannot tell you how many comments I have received wearing my watch and I am so excited to tell you that Jord are giving one of my subscribers a $100 e-voucher to win and $25 vouchers to anybody who enters!
It is so easy to enter! Just follow this link: http://www.woodwatches.com/#katieomakeup
Jeffree Star x Manny Mua Eclipse highlighter review
Hi honeys! I know a lot of people have been really excited for the Jeffree Star xManny MUA collab so I’m super excited to review it for you all! I had no trouble picking one up here in Australia. I went straight on the Black Swallow website and was surprised they had all of the Jeffree Star x Manny Mua collaboration in stock! I ordered, used Afterpay and it was here in around 4 days.
So, when the highlighter was first announced I wasn’t won over and it didn’t wow me, but as I saw the swatches and video reviews on it I started to like it! I thought it was quite pretty being an pale icy peach colour and decided I would order one for a review.
The compact/highlighter is huuuge and I LOVE the packaging! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love black and holographic anything so this was the ultimate packaging for me. The compact has quite a big mirror inside and the powder has the Jeffree Star Cosmetics logo and the Manny Mua moon logo embossed in it. It retails for US $29 on the Jeffree Star Cosmetics website (www.jefreestarcosmetics.com) but as I said I picked this up from the Black Swallow website and paid around $43 AUS.
The product: My first swatch thoughts were that it was gritter than I thought it would be and not as finely milled as other highlighters (say Mary-Lou Manizer by TheBalm) but damn it was BLINDING! I have no fake tan on and am super pale and the highlighter was a pretty similar colour to my actual skin tone which did make it a little hard to photograph so i did a few comparison swatches. I think this highlighter is would probably suit a more pale skin tone but it could also be used as a poppin’ inner corner highlight too!
I also didn’t experience much fallout – bonus.
All of Jeffree Star Cosmetics are also vegan and cruelty free which I thought was super important to mention.
Thoughts: I actually really liked the highlighter, I feel for me its pretty multi use in my kit and it was a lot prettier in real life then in the pictures. Im happy to have a more ice peach shade in my collection!

Will you be getting it? What are your thoughts?
APSU LIFE – Funaya Hand Ritual.
Hi loves! Its been a while since my last blog review. I have been working on some top secret projects that you will hopefully see soon.
– A bit about APSU –
Apsu is an Australian owned spa brand that launched in July 2016. The founders of APSU traveled for many years learning the beauty practices and treatments from around the world and used throughout time. Bringing to life all of these experiences and rituals, APSU now offers luxury products using the highest quality ingredients from around the world.
The ritual I used and am now reviewing is the Funaya Hand Ritual which is a 3 part Japanese inspired ritual based around green tea and its great benefits!
– A bit about green tea –
I’m a HUGE fan of green tea and was so excited to try this. I have sensitive skin and green tea products have always been great for soothing and calming my temperamental skin..and I love the smell!
– Green tea has anti ageing and antioxidant benefits!
– Green tea has the antioxidant EGCG which stimulates hair growth
– Green tea increases your metabolism.
and SO SO many more!
I was so excited to try this hand ritual with contains:
– The green tea and avocado exfoliating mask for hands (lush!)
– The green tea hand lotion
– The green tea massage candle.
I could smell the green tea before I opened the packaging…yum! I thought the products were a great size. When I first saw the candle I thought it was a regular candle but its actually a hot oil treatment for hands. I had never tried one before and was super interested to try it!
The Packaging: The packaging was very luxurious green, white and gold and I thought would be a perfect and unique gift for a friend or family member!
All the items were packaged individually and all packaging had the ingredients and instructions on the outside.
Step 1: The Green Tea and Avocado Mask for your hands.
It comes in a squeezy no mess tube and the product is white. The ingredients and instructions are also printed on this bottle.
The mask was very light and fresh with a gorgeous scent. There was small rice exfoliates through the mask that buffed and polished my hands while the lotion left them feeling smooth and very hydrated. I applied a thin layer of lotion over my hands and left for a few minutes before rubbing in the exfoliate. I then rinsed and patted dry my hands.
Step 2: The Green Tea Massage Candle!
The candle came in a square box with the same luxury packaging and the candle is in a little jug.
As per the instructions I trimmed the wick down to 3mm and lit the wick and waited until a warm pool of oil appeared. Once I had put out the flame and tested the product to make sure it wasn’t too hot I massaged it into my hands.
The benefit of this hot oil treatment is to help penetrate the oils into the skin. Essential oils are more easily absorbed into parts of the body which have a large number of sweat glands, such as our palms.
Once I had finished massaging the oil into my hands, I rinsed them off and patted them dry.
Step 3: The Green Tea Hand Lotion .
The packaging is identical to the hand mask except the product is more of a cream colour. The hand lotion was again thin, but covering and very moisturizing. I massaged it in and it absorbed quickly. I could feel the oils in the product but it didn’t leave any kind of oily feel to my skin. It felt refreshed and smooth, and it smelt great!
I truly loved these products and can’t wait to give them as gifts to my skincare obsessed friends and family!
The APSU Funaya Hand Ritual is available to buy online at http://www.apsulife.com
I hope you love the products as much as I did!
Lust Mineral Cosmetics – Mineral powder foundation.
A bit about Lust Minerals:
Lust Minerals is an Australian made and owned company.
All of their products are cruelty free and vegan friendly.
They also do not use any animal testing!
They can be found on their website: http://www.lustminerals.com.au/
This product was sent to me for review and I will also be doing a giveaway of one of these mineral powder’s on my Instagram @katieomakeup!
The product: The mineral loose powder has SPF15. The powder can be used dry for a lighter coverage or wet for a heavier coverage.
The packaging: The mineral loose powder comes in a round plastic container with a silver screw on lid and the Lust logo across the top. The underneath of the container has your chosen colour and the ingredient list. The container comes with a sifter inside which is very handy and stops spillage. All powder containers should have this!
The review: I really love using Lust for its natural ingredients. I am a full coverage girl so I use this powder over the top of my liquid foundations, both lust and other brands. I really liked this product. The powder was silky smooth and felt very lightweight. I got the powder in a darker shade than usual so it would work nicely with my fake tan or I could use it for bronzing when my foundation is a bit lighter!
I hope you liked my review on the Mineral Powder. I would def recommend it and I’m sure you would love it as much as I do!
Love, Katie x
Hi beauties! I’m so sorry my new post has taken so long – it has been a crazy time in my house. I hope you are all enjoying the Valentines month ❤
Today I am reviewing a few Cheeky Cosmetics products!
A bit about Cheeky Cosmetics:
‘Cheeky Cosmetics is your one stop cosmetic shop. Specializing in all aspects of Hair and Beauty products. We aim to give you the highest quality products at affordable prices.’
Cheeky Cosmetics website.
Cheeky Cosmetics is based in Australia. I love supporting local Australian companies and always try to if I can!
They have a really easy to navigate website www.cheekycosmetics.com.au and offer free shipping Australia wide. I also signed up for their newsletter and saw that there is a section for wholesale inquires if you had a business and were wanting to stock Cheeky Cosmetics.
They very kindly sent these products for review. I had a great experience with their customer service when I had any questions. They also sent me additional information on their products.
Nourish Hydrogel Sheet Mask – ‘Black Label’ by Cheeky Cosmetics – 45ml
The product: The sheet mask is cruelty free. The main ingredients are Aloe Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hyaluronic Acia, Chamomile Extract, Rose flower oil.
It retails for $12 on the Cheeky Cosmetics website.
Packaging: The sheet mask comes in a large silver foil packet with a black, grey and pink product sticker on the front. There is another large sticker on the back of the packet with the instructions and ingredients listed.
Review: I was a little bit scared to use a sheet mask as my skin is so sensitive to anything new, but I really wanted to give these a go! The sheet mask had a lace design on it (Serious 50 shades vibes!) , looked super luxurious and the packet was really full of product. It peeled off of its backing paper like any sheet mask and applied to the face in two pieces. I followed all the instructions on the packet carefully.
On the packet it said you can just leave the serum on, I did put on my moisturizer before bed.
My skin didn’t break out! It was fine, in fact it felt quite nice the next day. I would definitely use these masks again for a pamper night and I definitely want to get a couple for my girlfriends as I know they would love them!
‘Cheeky Cosmetics’ Professional Teeth Whitening System!
Also included was a user manual
I love the packaging! The teeth whitening system comes in a blue box with a black ribbon tied around it and the cheeky cosmetics logo on the front. It is really gorgeous. I was super impressed with the packaging. Inside is white and professional looking. I think it would make a really good present for a friend or a sister too.
Review: I’m obsessed with getting really white gorgeous teeth and im excited to write this review as since I received this kit and posted a picture on my Instagram SO many people have asked me about it! I haven’t had much luck before with home whitening products as they were always really painful while I was using them and after and I had to stop using them after a day or two. It had been a while since the last time I had tried one and I had never tried the teeth whitening kits with the LED light before so was really excited to give this a go!
Firstly I followed the instructions and moulded the trays to my own teeth using hot water and cut off the excess plastic.
Once this was done I added a drop of the whitening gel to each tooth indent before putting the mouth tray in. It was very comfortable to wear and I could still talk etc with it in.
I then used the LED light for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes was up I left just the mouth guard in for a further 30 minutes. I experienced NO sensitivity at all which surprised me a lot!
There wasn’t a drastic change after the first use (to be expected) but after a few days they started to whiten significantly! I used the teeth whitening kit every night after I had brushed my teeth and was just relaxing catching up on work. I just left them after with the excess product still on. I’m really happy with the outcome so far and its still ongoing at the moment.
I will definitely be getting the whitening gel refills and recommending the kit to friends!
TEETH WHITENING PEN
Our Teeth whitening pen is a great way to touch and maintain your pearly whites. It has the same strength gel as our whitening kit so it can be used 2-3 times per week. Rinse mouth after 30 minutes.
You do not need to use our LED light with the whitening pen.
The product: I also got sent a Cheeky Cosmetics teeth whitening pen. It is the same strength gel as what is in the teeth whitening kit and is recommended for use 2-3 times a week. You don’t need to use the LED light with the pen and you rinse your mouth 30 minutes after applying it to your teeth.
The Packaging: The pen is gold, my favourite colour! Its easy to take with you for travel instead of the whole kit.
The review: I used the teeth whitening pen a couple of times a week in the day time as a top up to the whitening system. Its very easy to use and I just painted it on my teeth and rinsed it off after 30 minutes. It would be great to use in between ordering refills too.
Again it caused me no teeth sensitivity and other teeth whitening pens have in the past!
I will be doing an update on my teeth in a few weeks so stay tuned!
If you are looking for a teeth whitening system, I would recommend Cheeky Cosmetics to everybody! These are my genuine thoughts and opinions on these products. I would not recommend products if I did not like them!
Hi everyone, I hope you are having an amazing new year so far!
Today I’m writing a review about the Australian cosmetics brand ‘Lust Minerals’ Stick Cream Foundation. This product was sent for review.
Firstly, a couple of things about Lust Mineral Cosmetics:
– They support cruelty free
– Are completely vegan friendly
-They do not use any animal testing.
– The products do not contain harsh chemicals, fillers, parabens, bismuth oxychloride, carmine FD & C dyes or artificial fragrance.
– Lust Minerals was founded on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
We found each other on social media mid last year. Lust Minerals had asked me to do a couple of makeup tutorials for their brand (linked below) and I learned a lot about the company and got to use most of the product’s in the range during the filming of their online tutorials and product overviews.
This is a mini review of their Stick Cream Foundation with a video tutorial!
Packaging – Lust Mineral stick cream foundation has very simple packaging. It’s a white tube with the brand logo printed on the front and the colour choice underneath. It is great for travel and it is practical. It is a wind up foundation stick.
First Impression – My first impression was that it was very creamy. This foundation works great when applied with your fingertips or a brush. I then blend it out using my beauty blender (I do this with all foundations). It is very lightweight and left a nice, natural & fresh looking finish. As the product is creamy, on oily skin types I would use a translucent/setting powder over the top to mattify the foundation. It is a great foundation to create a dewier look which I did in the first tutorial. It also works well on mature and drier skin types but is indeed suitable for all skin types.
Information: The foundation is currently available in 7 shades on the website and retails at $60.00AUD. Ingredients are listed at the bottom of this post.
This foundation is available for purchase on www.lustminerals.com.au
I hope you liked my review on this product 🙂
Tomorrow I will be holding a giveaway of one Lust Mineral Cream Stick Foundations on my Instagram @katieomakeup to a lucky winner! Head on over to Instagram to find out more!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Vault
I’m sorry I’m so late posting this! I had such a crazy busy time over the holiday period. Its also so incredibly hot here at the moment which makes swatching a little hard! Lol.
So many people have asked about this product and what I think of it, so I think it is still worth doing the review.
The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Vault is available at Priceline in Australia. The last time I checked they still had the vault there so get in quick!
This product is a Christmas LIMITED EDITION.
This vault includes 36 mini’s of every single shade in the soft cream mattes plus FOURTEEN exclusive colours which are:
– SAN JUAN
– BANGKOK ( Favourite!)
– LOS ANGELES
I absolutely love the colour choices in this vault. Some of the colours may seem a little scary but I used that to step outside my comfort zone. I’m loving the look of a matte nude eye and a bright bold lip at the moment! My favourite colour without a doubt is Bangkok. I’ve gotten so many compliments wearing it and just recently did a purple look for Instagram using it (below) and my audience was loving the bright lip!
The stand out colours for me would be Tokyo (limited edition), Stockholm, Havana (limited edition), Moscow (limited edition), Copenhagen, Cairo and Transylvania.
I really enjoy the soft matte creams. The formula is very soft and moussey but the colour pay off is still very good with most of the colours. A few were a little patchy but after layering were fine. I did prep my lips a little as I always do using matte lipsticks. My lips had been exfoliated and I have a thin layer of lip balm on. I had little to no transfer with these which surprised me with them being a cream.
These lip creams in the vault are not the full size but the mini’s! I think this is great as it gives you a chance to try colours you wouldn’t normally use, mix and match and figure out what you would repurchase while giving you the limited edition colours as well!
I’m so excited we have NYX in Priceline Australia as im such a big fan! I loved this vault and the looks that have been created because of it.
Now I just need the NYX Suede lipstick vault!
I hope you enjoyed this review…this product was NOT sent to me for review and all thoughts are my own 🙂
Love, light and lashes,
Sorry I’m a bit late to the party – but I thought I would write a quick review about what people have been asking me the most about which is…. The Modern Renaissance Palette!
Seriously…who isn’t obsessed with this palette right now?
The Modern Renaissance palette is Anastasia Beverly Hills first permanent palette with 14 gorgeous highly pigmented neutral and berry tones. There are 11 matte shades and 3 shimmer shades. It is currently retailing on Anastasiabeverlyhills.com for $42 US. Read on to find out what I love about this palette!
The packaging of this palette is so on trend. The outside is a soft lilac/mauve suede with big white font spelling the name of the palette. It also has quite a large mirror inside and comes with a double ended eye shadow brush (which is awesome) It is really unlike the other palette’s I currently have. I’m not sure how easy the outside would be to clean so it is one I’m going to have displayed on my makeup desk rather than in my kit. Sorry about the already swatched palette – I couldnt help myself!
The eye shadows are so soft and buttery – they feel creamy! I did get a small amount of kick up when dipping my brush in but that’s to be expected. The eye shadows are so blendable, highly pigmented and easy to work with. The colour choices in this palette have pushed me to experiment more with berry tones which its not usually what I would lean towards. But the colour choices are making my green eyes pop! ❤
They are all stand out colours but Love Letter, Venetian Red, Burnt Orange and Primavera are my most used in this palette (for now anyway)
The 14 shades are as follows:
Tempera – Velvety beige with an ultra-matte finish
Golden Ochre – Earthy yellow with an ultra-matte finish
Vermeer – Iridescent shell with a metallic finish
Buon Fresco – Antique lavender with an ultra-matte finish
Antique Bronze – Metallic sable with a satin finish
Love Letter- Raspberry with an ultra-matte finish
Cyprus Umber- Dark coffee with an ultra-matte finish
Realgar- Brick with an ultra-matte finish
Warm Taupe- Earthy gray with an ultra-matte finish
Venetian Red- Crimson with an ultra-matte finish
Red Ochre- Sienna with an ultra-matte finish
Primavera- shimmery gold dust with a metallic finish
Burnt Orange- deep orange with an ultra-matte finish
Raw Sienna- neutral amber with an ultra-matte finish
Overall, as you can probably tell, I am obsessed with this product. I have experienced no fall out with the shadows, they blend like a dream, the colours are gorgeous.
I’m so enjoying creating new looks and playing around with this beauty!
Have you used it? What are your thoughts/ favourite colours?
Let me know!
As always you can find me on:

Welcome to my blog! It’s been a while in the making and I’m so excited to share my thoughts with you guys! This blog is going to be pretty much about all aspects of makeup including tutorials, reviews and Q&A.
I get asked a fair bit which stores I order makeup from online. So, I thought I would start by answering this question for you guys. Instead of reviewing the obvious ones, I thought I would tell you about the smaller companies I’ve dealt with in the last few months and my experiences with them.
So, I’m going to jump right in with Crush Cosmetics (www.crushcosmetics.com.au)
Crush Cosmetics are amazing!
They stock over 30 brands with more than 4000 items available. They had things I specifically needed for my kit such as Beauty Blenders, Red Cherry Eyelashes and Z Palettes. Something that also attracted me to Crush Cosmetics is that they offer professional discount. I sent them my makeup Diploma and within a day they had signed me up to their professional discount program. They have really great customer service.
I placed my order on Monday 17th October 2016 and received my order 3 days later.
My order was packaged in a Crush Cosmetics paper bag inside a box, all products arrived in good condition with no breakages. No free samples from these guys but they do have the option of Afterpay which I love. They are an Australian business with free ground shipping if you spend over $80, express and international shipping is also available and they have a 14 day return policy. They also have a wholesale program if this applies to you.
I think Crush Cosmetics would have to be my favourite new company to order from and I have already started my next order 🙂
Next on my list is Adore Beauty (www.adorebeauty.com.au)
I love Adore Beauty! I placed my order with these guys in September and received it in 2-3 days.
I ordered The Balm – In The Balm Of Your Hands Palette, The Balm- Mary-Lou Manizer and Benefit – Hoola Bronzer. There was no professional discount but I did receive 2 free samples and a Tim Tam…so cute! I received these samples because my order was over $50.
They wrapped and packaged my order well. Everything was in perfect condition.
Their customer service was great and there were no dramas at all. Shipping is also free for all orders within Australia which I LOVE. They stock nearly all of my favourite brands.
They also have Afterpay! Woohoo!
Crystal Minx (www.crystalminx.com.au)
On their site it reads ‘We value quality and all of our cosmetics are 100% authentic’. They only buy direct from the brand or their authorized stockists and are happy to provide proof of purchase. They are also Australian owned and operated. They have heaps of in-demand items! I was weary of ordering from a smaller company as I was worried that the items would not be authentic and that I may not even receive them as this has happened in the past. Thankfully, this was not the case. I had a great experience with customer service, I messaged asking if they had professional discount and while they don’t at the moment they very kindly gave me a one-time discount code (Thanks Crystal Minx!).
I ordered the Anastasia’s Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit. The price was $82.99 but because I couldn’t find it anywhere else and they have Afterpay I didn’t mind paying that price.
Shipping was $12 for express postage and they only ship to Australia and New Zealand at the moment.
All in all, it was a little bit more than I was used to paying but I really wanted the product and I was happy to support a smaller Australian company.
My Moonchild kit was authentic and super gorgeous… like a unicorn dream!
I will definitely be buying from them in the future.
Beauty Bay (www.beautybay.com )
Ok, I don’t know what is going on at the moment with Beauty Bay and the bad reviews i have been seeing! I ordered from them because they undeniably have great brands and it was the only place that I could order Makeup Geek from to save myself some shipping costs.
On October 25th, I spent $162.80 on a Gerard Lipstick in Buttercup, Makeup Geek– Eyeshadows, Foiled Eyeshadows and Durochrome Eyeshadows. Because I spent that amount I received a free Premiere sample. I also got the free international tracked shipping because…hell no I was not going to lose my MUG eyeshadows!
The next day I got an email saying that ‘it had been despatched (sic)’ but there was no tracking number. On Nov 4th, I sent an email asking for my tracking number and received a generic reply saying that someone will get back to me soon. I emailed again on the 5th asking for the tracking number, they emailed back saying someone will get back to me soon, they sent through my tracking details on Nov 9th which was the day my order arrived. It took 15 days to arrive despite the international tracking which said it would take 7 – 10 days. When it arrived, the box was badly damaged. The products weren’t packed well and three of the eyeshadows were smashed on arrival. Devastated! After reading all the bad reviews I decided not to contact customer service as I really didn’t think it would get me anywhere, but it was pretty bad considering the broken eyeshadows were $15.50 each, $46.50 all up! So, I fixed the eyeshadows myself (stay tuned for my tutorial on makeup fixing!). It sucks because it’s the only place that’s easy for me to get Makeup Geek from. They don’t currently offer Afterpay.
So, I hope you all found this helpful if you’re thinking of ordering from these companies.
I was not paid or asked to do these reviews. These are just my opinions and experiences.
